Are You A Healthcare Worker Who’s Struggling With Emotional Or Stress Eating?

I’m going to go against the common belief that fasting, or going long periods of time without eating, is the perfect nutritional approach for everyone. We’re all different. While fasting has been shown to have its benefits, helping people with diabetes or insulin resistance, and those with metabolic syndrome, but it’s not the perfect approach for every single person.

With the people who I work with, who are working long shifts in healthcare, going long hours without eating doesn’t always serve us the best way. I specifically work with those who struggle with stress eating. When we’re going long periods of time without eating at work, it sets us up for all kinds of problems down the road. When we finally get home and are ready to eat, we end up binge eating, eating way too much in one sitting. Then we go to bed feeling awful, in a lot of discomfort, to only do the same thing to our bodies tomorrow.

I specifically help healthcare workers who struggle with this, and are feeling exhausted and have brain fog. I used to struggle with this myself. I was stuck in that cycle.

I needed to develop a plan that I could sustain moving forward and that fit into my very busy lifestyle.

I’m now a functional medicine practitioner and physician assistant, and I help healthcare workers who want to break the cycle of emotional eating and stress eating.

In functional medicine we get down to the deep root causes of why we’re behaving, and why our habits are a certain way. We look at your DNA, hormones, and gut health, along with many other things, to come up with a plan that’s individualized for you.
